Entities
Written by Lynne Ashdown
Whoever would have thought that I, a reasonably grounded and pragmatic
person, would have become an entitybuster? I don't mean to make light
of a subject which is the essence of spirit. Well, yes, I do. There
is no circumstance that can't be improved with a little light and laughter,
including unwelcome presences in houses.
First of all, what is an entity?
The term, 'discarnate (not-embodied) entity' partly explains it. As
humans, we have a body and an intangible part, referred to as the soul,
spirit, spiritual essence, being, energetic component, or life force.
This essence is the part of us that cannot be measured or quantified,
although there have been studies revealing that when a person dies there
is a slight but measurable difference between the live body and the
dead one after the spirit has departed. So a discarnate entity is the
being (some say this is the real self) that is left after a person dies.
These can be located in a space, and they can be assisted to transition
when permission is given.
What do you mean, "when permission is given?"
Entities can be located by dowsing (also called 'divining'), which is
the use of tools (a pendulum, L-rods, one's body, or other) to obtain
information not normally available to the conscious mind. When using
the dowsing system to obtain information or locate something, permission
must be asked first, ie. 'Can I, may I, should I dowse about ... at
this time'? In integrity, the dowser does not dowse about something
for which permission is not given. Usually a question is asked using
a pendulum from which (only) a yes or no answer can be received. The
pendulum swings in different way for a yes or a no. A dowser, or diviner,
is someone who locates underground water, invisible energies, information,
broken underground pipes, lost objects or other things not accessible
to the eye or conscious mind. Many Feng Shui practitioners are trained
dowsers because this skill in necessary in order to detect energies
in a space or underground that are harmful to the client, such as entities
or geopathic stress (harmful radiations from underground water, strong
earth energy lines or other negative energies) which need to be remedied.
What is the 'dowsing system'?
An abbreviated answer is that the 'dowsing system' is comprised of the
skills and methods used to dowse and theories about where answers obtained
by dowsing come from. It is believed that these answers come from a
Higher Power, from the pool of the collective unconscious, from a cosmic,
universal connectedness, from the higher self, or from all of these.
Or, that the information being sought already exists; it is just a matter
of tuning into it. I do know that answers I get from dowsing come not
only from my higher self, as many believe, but from some other place
outside myself.
When an entity does transition, where does it go?
I do not presume to hypothesize where we go when we die. But in my experience
with entities they do indeed exist, and they transition to somewhere,
probably to some realm outside our earth's third dimension. Most transition,
but some don't. Those entities with whom I've come into contact who
haven't transitioned have issues connected to emotional states experienced
when they were alive.
At one time, coming from my belief system, I sent them to the light.
It happens I've taken substantial training from teachers on clearing
energies, chief among them Eric Dowsett. I discussed this with him,
and he asked me how I knew these beings were supposed to go to the light?
He said I was arrogant to presume to know where they were supposed to
go. I saw that he was right. I have no idea where their next appropriate
destination may be, but that is where I direct them, with one small
caveat - I direct them to their next appropriate destination ... in
their eventual journey to the light. I believe that the light, which
I believe to be God by any name, is the final destination, regardless
what evil detours or subsequent consequences may have to be suffered
along the way, of which I know not and have no need to know. It is enough
to play my small role in assisting their transition.
When a person dies, or transitions out of their physical body,
why it is that some transition and some don't?
In my experience, the normal circumstance is that an entity transitions
to their next appropriate destination, wherever that may be. However,
some circumstances apparently cause an entity to become stuck in the
world of humans. Such circumstances can be a suicide, a person who is
unduly attached to or has unfinished business in a place, a person who
has died a violent death, or who has died before their time in an accident,
or persons with issues of abandonment, grief, guilt, rage, remorse,
loneliness or other. I don't speak here of masters or beings who may
have chosen to return here to assist. I have read of these but do not
address it here. If I had to give a short answer to why I think an entity
does not transition, I'd say unfinished business or attachment.
From what background do I come that I presume to, and have the
ability to do this work?
I was raised as a Christian Scientist, with no fear and little dogma.
I no longer subscribe to any religion, but am imprinted with my own
spiritual experience and practice (although I often attend Unity church).
I believe to the core of my own soul in God, the higher power, the creative
principle infused everywhere in us, in every flower, tree, creature
and weed. I experience God as all good, all light, and that the light
is stronger than the darkness. I experience humans as God's perfect
children in their original creation, containing the seed of God's divinity.
I experience entities the same way, no less than God's perfect children
in their original creation.
But what of evil?
Evil exists. Perhaps we could not strive for good in ourselves unless
we knew the opposite. An important principle of Feng Shui and oriental
philosophy is the concept of Yin and Yang, or polarities. Everything
has a polarity - light and dark, good and evil. I defer to persons more
learned than I to seek the deeper roots of these basic theories of the
nature of being.
Do you need to protect yourself when doing this work?
Entities can be needy, and care should be taken to prevent them from
entering your personal space. Some who do this work use rituals or wear
talismans for protection. There are many roads to the well, and other
ways to release or transition entities besides the methods discussed
here. I only state here how I do it, and why. I do not wear any protection
except my intention to assist, and my knowledge that the light is stronger
than the dark.
Is it possible that I could encounter an entity of darkness stronger
than the light I carry? I think not and I have faith not, but I really
don't know. I will do what I do until the Universe instructs me otherwise.
I come in the light, to assist. So far, that has been enough.
However, faith and belief are best accompanied by reason and caution.
If you are careless, an entity can jump into your personal space, causing
headaches and other symptoms. Some are more aggressive and less benevolent
than others, like live people. This happened occasionally to me at first,
and I would have go to my (late) friend, Marcus True, to clear me. Later
I learned to clear myself by forcibly and firmly ordering the entity
away.
Now I take precautions. Upon locating an entity, I tell it I am here
only to assist, that I am not involved personally, and to stay out of
my personal space. At the same time I trace a sacred symbol, a horizontal
figure eight, in the air with my finger between me and the entity with
the intention of separating me from it and keeping my personal space
impenetrable. I learned this from Bob Longacre.
What tells you an entity is there, and how do
you locate it?
Many times people will call me for a Feng Shui consultation because
they feel uncomfortable in their home or office for some unknown reason.
After our initial interview, I check the chi levels in different rooms.
I know from experience more or less what the chi level should be just
by looking around. If it is markedly lower, I check for an entity. Entities
can be associated with cold air, which lowers chi. Chi is, among other
things, energy, of which an element can be heat. Cold lowers chi...sucks
the chi from a room, where a high level of chi is needed to support
health and vitality for the person there. This is one reason why it
is a good thing not to have entities in your space, even benevolent
ones. Sometimes a client will tell of being uncomfortable or unable
to sleep in some room, or that they feel a "presence,"
If I suspect an entity is present. I use my dowsing L-rods to locate
it. I simply ask, "Show me if an entity is present in this room." The
rods will lead me right to it, and I use my transition protocol right
where the entity is located.
How is this work related to Feng Shui?
The goal of Feng Shui is to connect heaven, the person in their building,
and earth in perfect harmony. The Feng Shui practitioner does this in
part by facilitating the highest possible chi (life force) flow in the
person's building to best support health, vitality, and open paths to
their goals. Entities block and lower the chi flow that needs to benefit
the live person, and can have other negative effects. Helping entities
to transition not only raises and harmonizes the chi energy in a space,
but it is also an assist to the entity, facilitating their own path.
Are you ever afraid?
No more than I would be confronting any person with a body. After all,
my intention is to help the entity, as well as to help the person in
their house
What do you do to help an entity transition?
I stand right where I locate the entity, and swing the pendulum in this
space, at the ready (like turning on the radio). I ask if it is appropriate
for me to assist the transition of this entity, and permission to assist
this entity's transition. If it is received, I trace the horizontal
figure eight and, addressing it directly, inform the entity to keep
out of my personal space. I ask if it is a discarnate entity, and if
it knows it is dead (in rare cases it doesn't know and must be convinced).
I ask if it knows it is stuck here. It usually does. I ask if it wants
to transition. Usually it does. If not, I bring it to understanding
why it needs to transition.
Then I follow my protocol. It would be inappropriate for me to tell
you my entire protocol because mine is interwoven with my spiritual
belief and experience. It comes from my whole being which I think helps
me to become a clear channel through which energy can move. Should you
want to do this yourself, you must develop your own protocol or learn
some other system, and I strongly urge you to find someone experienced
to mentor you.
But I will tell you this. For me, the entity travels during the swinging
of my pendulum which tunes into facilitating an energy interaction.
The pendulum swings clockwise for up to several minutes. Then I ask
if the transition is complete. It is not uncommon to have to do this
several times before completion of the transition is indicated. Then
I check with the L-rods to see if the entity is gone.
How did you get into this work in the first place?
At one time I was practicing with my pendulum measuring chi levels in
rooms and seeing what affected these levels. In my own house, I would
ask if there were negative items in a room and then check objects with
my pendulum for negative energies. If I found such an object, I'd remove
it and then re-measure the chi level in the room to see if it came up,
which it did. As I went about the house doing this, I came across my
grandmother's chair in the foyer, which had a strong negative hit. It
occurred to me to ask, "Does anyone sit in this chair?" I got a strong
yes. Startled, I put the chair out in the garage, not wanting an entity
in my house. But I missed the chair. So a few days later I marched out
to the garage and demanded, "I would like to speak to the entity that
sits in this chair. Is the entity here?" Yes. Oh boy, now what? I used
my L-rods to see for sure where the entity was, and yes, it was very
much at home in the chair. I asked it a lot of yes and no questions
using the pendulum. I'd seen Marcus help entities to transition, so
with that guideline I made my own protocol and helped the entity to
transition. The chair went back into the foyer, and this work has been
coming to me ever since.
Life, death, and the workings of the Universe are such a mystery. Isn't
it wonderful?
