Our Precious Redwood Trees
Written by Kerry Louise Gillett

On Saturday, October 16, 2004, four dowsers from the San Francisco Bay Area met under the auspices of Dowsers Doing Good Deeds to use their dowsing skills to find what we all can do to help our redwood trees.

Some Background about Coast Redwood Trees: Called the grandfather trees by local Native Americans, coast redwoods are the tallest trees in the world, growing to over 300 feet tall. They live to be over 2,000 years old. According to the Redwood National and State Parks organization, “Ninety-six percent of the original old-growth coast redwoods have been logged,” which leaves only four percent of our old-growth coast redwoods still standing. Only 45% of the remaining trees are under the protection of national and state parks; the rest are on privately owned land and are subject to logging. The Park Service tells us that the west coast of the United State (from Monterey County in northern California, going north to southern Oregon) is the only place in the world where forests of coast redwoods are found. All of this makes these trees precious to those who respect statistics; but our dowsing group found deeper and more critical reasons to preserve the redwoods we have and for us all to send them our prayers for their ultimate good health and well-being.

“Where is the tallest redwood on record? A tree dubbed the Tall Tree in the Tall Trees Grove was once measured at nearly 367.8 feet (120 m). Subsequent logging in the Redwood Creek basin subjected the grove to windier, drier, and hotter conditions. The Tall Tree's crown fell off in the 1980s.

Today there are other identified tall trees growing throughout the California redwood region. As long as the entire forest is allowed to thrive, tall trees will survive the seasons and the centuries.

The group opened their dowsing session with the following prayer:
We call on our spiritual companions, our angels, and helpers; and the spiritual companions, the angels, helpers, and devas of the redwood trees; and the devas of the plants and trees and grasses of the redwood forest to join us here today. Let us all gather together in the Light of God, seeing clearly the truth. And, Ma’at, please be with us to show away all entities and energies that might cloud or distort our vision and to show away all deception and self-deception. And let us gather together in the heart of God, acting with purity of purpose, in the best interests of all concerned.

What Happens to the Redwoods is Indicative of What is Happening in the Entire Region: We were told that the redwood trees are connected to the welfare of the entire area where the forests exist; what is happening to them is a symbol of the erosion of all of northern California and southern Oregon. When we send our prayers as described elsewhere in this article, we are working through the trees to elevate the life-force energies of the entire region. When the redwood trees have a vibrant life force, that life force spreads out to all other living things. Our guides used the word “vital”: The condition of the redwood trees is vital to the whole life force of the region.

There have been reports that the redwoods are starting to die from the top down. There is an ancient prophesy of the Native Americans that, when the trees start dying from the top down, it’s a sign that we’re coming close to the time of what some call the Great Change, the Great Turnover. The spirits of the trees told us that they are a symbol of what’s happening in society at large. There is nothing separate from them and what is happening everywhere.

A feeling of sadness was transmitted; it was a compassionate sadness from them because of so much damage having been done; but they are also very accepting that it is just part of the way things are flowing and that what is happening to them is just one part of everything else that’s going on.

They showed us that, when the redwoods go, this whole part of the world breaks off. It’s not “Oh, you cut all the redwoods down; so because of that, you created the collapse of California”; but, rather, when we go that far with the redwood trees, it is a sign that we have gone that far with it all.
And they showed us that, at that point, this whole area is literally going to fall into the ocean. It’s not just a physical-ecological thing; it also involves the life-force energies of the entire area and is connected with the quality of the spiritual life of northern California and Southern Oregon where they grow. Everything is connected.

The Welfare of the Entire Forest is Important to the Welfare of the Trees: The message we were getting emphasized that the forest in its entirety must be protected, all the animals, the underbrush, etc. The cleanup programs where underbrush is cleared out or where loggers are allowed to remove fallen redwoods is weakening the entire forest ecosystem.

The coast redwood environment recycles naturally: because the 100-plus inches of annual rainfall leaves the soil with few nutrients, the trees rely on each other, living and dead, for their vital nutrients. The trees need to decay naturally to fully participate in this cycle, so when logging occurs, the natural recycling is interrupted.

The Deterioration of their Health Can be Scientifically Measured: We were told that scientific proof can be found by measuring the growth of old redwood trees. In this way we will find that they used to grow much faster, which shows that the trees are not living in optimum good health, that their growth has been stunted.

The Importance of the Energy Network of the Redwoods: The devas of these trees showed us that, when a redwood is cut down, it is still energetically there for a long time. Even though the tree physically is gone, the energy of the tree still exists. They told us that all coast redwoods are a part of a big family, and the energy from one tree feeds the energies of all the other trees. They said that they relate to each other strongly through these energies, and that where huge masses of redwood trees have been cut down, a lot of the energy is still there and is still feeding the big network of redwoods but that that is slowly dying out, and that, as the energy left by the logged trees weakens, so too does the energy of the entire coast redwood family. Before human beings began cutting down the trees, it was very rare for a tree to die; so it’s been a huge shock to their vital energy system to be cut down. When one redwood tree is cut down, they all feel the severance; so with every redwood that is cut down, it’s ill-affecting the whole forest. They say there’s no such thing as there being no big problem in just cutting down a few redwoods, because in cutting down even one redwood tree, it’s cutting away a part of a living energy body, and every redwood loses a part of its individual vitality when any other redwood is killed. They told us that they understand that people look at it economically; they look at it differently than the trees do. People have not been seeing the whole picture.

We asked them: Out of all trees, is it just the redwood family that has that type of organization? We were told that, in this particular way that was described, yes. Other trees have their own unique way of reacting to being cut down.

WHAT WE CAN DO:

Prayers: The trees and their guardians first and foremost asked us to actually go on-site to the forest – in groups or individually – and join the trees in prayers for the health of the entire forest as a living unit – all the flora and fauna, the whole ecosystem. We were told that these prayers will go beyond the forest to the ears of all people who will listen.

For those of us who have redwoods in their neighborhoods, we were told that, because of the energetic connection among the trees, we can stand near a redwood in our neighborhood and join with that tree in prayer; and that will boost the entire coast redwood community’s energy.

We also found that the energy-amplifying devices developed by Slim Spurling (acuvacset@aol.com; http://www.slimspurling.com; 303/849-5411) and Blue Star Innovations (timg4@comcast.net; 415/456-4504) can be set to emit effective, continuous prayer energies to the trees.

The third method of prayer that we dowsed as being effective is for our readers to pray with a focus on a photograph of redwood trees (one of which is included in this article) which will send the person’s prayers to that tree through the person’s intention. A tool that makes this process even stronger is the design you see next to the photograph. This is a symbol given to us by our Spiritual Companions, using a method developed by Dr. Ibrahim Karim called biosignatures. After being given this symbol, we were delighted to have been visited by the spirit of an ancient Native American medicine man who told us he has been working in service to our physical plane as a helper to the angels for a great long time; and he is very happy to be working with us for the benefit of the coast redwoods. The way the system was described to us is that this symbol and photograph are like an address on a package. As one prays with these images in mind, the prayers are directed to the spiritual energy center of the redwoods and that this good gentleman is like a mail clerk who distributes the energy packages that arrive so that the energies are distributed in the most beneficial way possible for all concerned.

The dowsing group asks that as many people as possible add a prayer for the ultimate good health and well-being of the coast redwoods to their daily prayers.

Write Letters: Write letters to organizations that have control over the redwoods to tell them of your concern for the welfare of these trees. The words that were brought to us were to “Do it conscientiously” because the redwood trees are an important resource that a lot of people from all walks of life are concerned about, and any letters written to the people who have power over the welfare of the trees will be considered. Your time and effort will make a difference.

At the end of the session, we asked if there is anything else that we can do. We were told no. Then we asked: Is there anything else that you would like to tell us on this? And they said, “No. Go out and do it.” So we’ve all got our directive: Let’s “go out and do it.”

Where information was told to us through psychic channels, we followed up by dowsing as a group to confirm that the information was received correctly and that it was true and accurate.

There are three types of redwoods in the world. Our session focused on what are called coast redwoods.
